Monday 7th October - The Referendum
The Neighbourhood Plan Referendum is now only a matter of days away. So, just to remind you Neighbourhood Plans give local communities more control over the type, location, size and design of development in their area. Once ratified by the community through a referendum, these Plans become part of the development plan for the area and must be taken into account when planning applications are determined.
At the voting booth you will be asked to respond to the question:
"Do you want Hart District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Hartley Wintney to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"
At this stage, we are not permitted to influence you one way or another but it's worth noting that Winchfield scoed YES 294 NO 11 with a turnout of 61.2% for their plan. The results of the referendum should be available the day after voting takes place. The onus then lies with Hart to finalise the formalities which result in the Plan being 'made' which gives it its full legal force - this usually takes about 6 weeks and further updates will be given on this web site as appropriate.
